Fresh seafood and seasonal delicacies of the southern Boso peninsula.

Fresh local ingredients are turned into colorful, delicious cuisine. Treats found only in the Minami Boso area from both land and sea are prepared ornately. As well as freshly caught fish, you will also have the chance to taste lobster, abalone, turban shells, and a variety of other delicious seafood dishes that may be out of the ordinary for you.

This bright red fish, a splendid alfonsino (kinmedai), is rich in high-quality fat.
Boiled in soy sauce with a little sugar is the traditional fishermen's method
and without doubt the most delicious.
A wonderful fluffy, white fish that goes well with a thick, sweet-savory sauce.

The most famous and prized seafood ingredient
from Chiba is the spiny lobster, locally known as the Boshu lobster.
This has to be served as sashimi for you to fully enjoy
the intense melt-in-your-mouth flavor.

The only luxury ingredient to rival spiny lobster is abalone Raised
in the Kuroshio Current, the umami is exceptional.
They can be enjoyed as gently cooked, tender steaks,
or even cooked alive—a local specialty.

One of the seafood specialties of the region is onigarayaki,
lobster grilled in its shell, a cooking method which really brings out
the aroma of the grill and the delicious flavor of the lobster.
This is our number one recommendation for spiny lobster.

Enjoy the unique atmosphere of sitting around an open hearth,
watching extravagant seafood being cooked in front of your eyes.
The start of a somewhat special culinary experience.

Breakfast at Chikurakan

Mornings at Chikurakan begin with a traditional Japanese-style meal. Enjoy meaty dried fish, hot rice freshly boiled in front of you in an iron pot, and numerous tasty treats from salad to grilled dishes—all of which make for a truly hearty breakfast.

Dining Areas

Meals are served in the Kaishokujo, a communal dining room which retains the air of a traditional Japanese residence.
You may also enjoy grilling over an open hearth at the Irori dokoro for a rustic touch of Japanese tradition.
